During your stay at Natura Mierzei 30, it is worth visiting one of the newest and most spectacular engineering achievements in Poland – Przekop Mierzeji Wiślana. This impressive canal, officially called the Canal through the Vistula Spit, is not only a strategic investment, but also a unique tourist attraction that attracts crowds of visitors.
The Canal through the Vistula Spit is an artificially created waterway that connects the Vistula Lagoon with the Gulf of Gdańsk, allowing vessels up to 100 meters in length and with a draft of up to 4.5 meters to pass freely without having to use Russian territorial waters. The canal was opened in 2022 and has since become an important element of the development of the region and one of the most interesting tourist attractions of the Vistula Spit.
The canal is about 1.3 kilometers long and 120 meters wide, making it a spectacular place, especially when larger vessels pass through.
In addition to admiring the canal itself, in its vicinity you will find:
- Drawbridges – structures enabling the passage of vehicles and pedestrians, which are raised in a spectacular way to let ships through.
- Modern locks – part of the canal infrastructure, which are not only functional but also architecturally interesting.
